方真研究员率生物能源组参加第一届生物能源大会
本年度最具国际影响力的生命科学和生物技术领域的专业盛会于2011年4月24日至29日在大连世博广场召开。本次会议囊括了第一届生物能源大会(WCBE-2011)、第一届海洋生物技术大会、第四届工业生物技术大会、第二届中国大连DNA及基因组活动周、第二届工业酶与生物催化大会、第二届石油微生物大会及第二届中国大连国际生物技术产品和仪器设备博览会等六项国内国际会议。
本次会议邀请了9位诺贝尔奖获得者，并举办了诺奖大师讲坛，他们分别是Thomas A. Steitz、Ada E.Yonath、Osamu Shimomura、Aaron Ciechanover、Avram Hershko、Tim Hunt、Robert C. Richardson、Richard Roberts和Erwin Neher博士，分别来自化学、生理学医学和物理等3个不同领域。诺奖大师讲坛对年轻科学家们学习尖端知识并加强科学信息交流起到了非常大的鼓舞，在中国以及全世界范围内对生命科学的基本研究产生一定影响力。此外，欧洲生物质能协会主席Heinz Kopetz 博士、美国波音公司（中国）研发副总裁Al Bryant博士、美国工程院院士王兆凯博士、美国POET科学技术部资深副总裁Mark Stowers博士、美国可再生能源公司总裁Daniel J Oh博士等国内外著名专家也应邀参加。
第一届生物能源大会主题为：“开发大自然中生物可再生能源”。本次会议聚集了邀请世界上生物能源领域的著名专家学者、世界领先的生物能源企业高管、生物能源产业投融资机构代表以及我国生物能源产业的著名专家、著名企业代表。开展了生物能源与低碳、生物燃料技术最新进展、生物能源原材料、下一代生物乙醇、生物柴油、生物燃气、生物能源生产加工过程、生物能源商业化等60多场科技论坛和分会活动。方真研究员作为生物能源大会Scientific Advisory Board成员及分会Co-chair带领生物能源组参加了本次会议，其中四人做了专题报告，分别是方真研究员的“Pretreatment of Lignocellulosic Biomass for Hydrolysis”，郭峰助理研究员的“Selection of High-oil-yield Seed Sources of Jatropha curcas L. for Biodiesel Production”，田霄飞（方真研究员博士研究生）的“Fast enzymatic hydrolysis of celluloses pretreated with ionic liquids under microwave irradiation”，及龙运多（方真研究员的博士研究生）的“Coproduction of biodiesel and lactic acid from rapeseed oil using sodium silicate”。通过本次国际会议，向参会的专家学者介绍了中科院西双版纳热带植物园目前在生物质能源领域取得的成果和进展。通过与同行间的学习与交流，对生物能源组合理构建和未来健康发展意义深远。

Prof. Zhen Fang atteded BIT’s 1st World Congress of Bioenergy (WCBE-2011) in Dalian
Prof. Zhen Fang led the biomass group to attend the BIT’s 1st World Congress of Bioenergy (WCBE-2011), the most internationally influential professional conference in the fields of life sciences and biotechnology this year was held from April 24 to 29, 2011, at the Dalian World Expo Square. The event encompassed six domestic and international conferences, including the First World Conference on Bioenergy (WCBE-2011), the First Marine Biotechnology Conference, the Fourth Industrial Biotechnology Conference, the Second China Dalian DNA and Genomics Activity Week, the Second Industrial Enzymes and Biocatalysis Conference, the Second Petroleum Microbiology Conference, and the Second China Dalian International Biotechnology Products and Instrument Equipment Expo. This conference invited nine Nobel laureates and hosted the Nobel Master Forum, featuring Drs.Thomas A. Steitz, Ada E. Yonath, Osamu Shimomura, Aaron Ciechanover, Avram Hershko, Tim Hunt, Robert C. Richardson, Richard Roberts, and Erwin Neher, who hailed from three distinct fields including chemistry, physiology or medicine, and physics. The Nobel Master Forum significantly inspired young scientists to learn cutting-edge knowledge and enhance scientific information exchange, exerting considerable influence on fundamental research in life sciences both in China and globally. Additionally, renowned experts from domestic and international backgrounds, such as Heinz Kopetz, President of the European Biomass Association; Dr. Al Bryant, Vice President of R&D at Boeing (China); Dr. Wang Zhaokai, member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering; Dr. Mark Stowers, Senior Vice President of Science and Technology at POET; and Dr. Daniel J. Oh, President of a U.S. renewable energy company, were also invited to participate.
The theme of the first Bioenergy Conference is "Developing Renewable Bioenergy in Nature". This conference brings together renowned experts and scholars in the field of bioenergy from around the world, executives of world leading bioenergy companies, representatives of bioenergy industry investment and financing institutions, as well as famous experts and representatives of China's bioenergy industry. More than 60 science and technology forums and sub events were held, covering topics such as bioenergy and low-carbon, the latest advances in biofuel technology, bioenergy raw materials, next-generation bioethanol, biodiesel, biogas, bioenergy production and processing processes, and bioenergy commercialization. As a member of the Scientific Advisory Board and Co-chair of the Bioenergy Conference, Prof. Zhen Fang led the Bioenergy Group to participate in the conference. Four of them gave special presentations, including Prof. Zhen Fang's "Pretreatment of Lignocellular Biomass for Hydrolysis", Assistant Prof. Guo's "Selection of High oil yield Seed Sources of Jatropha Curcas L. for Biodiesel Production", PhD student Mr. Xiaofei Tian's "Fast enzymatic hydrolysis of celluloses pretreated with ionic liquids under microwave irradiation", and PhD student Yunduo Long's "Coproduction of biodiesel and lactic acid from rapeseed oil using sodium silicate". Through this international conference, the achievements and progress of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in the field of biomass energy were introduced to the attending experts and scholars. Through learning and communication with peers, it has profound significance for the construction of bioenergy combination theory and future healthy development.
